What personal data means

Personal data is defined by the UK General Data Protection Regulation as any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified by reference to an identifier.

In plainer terms, it is any information about you that allows you to be identified. That covers obvious things such as your name and contact details, and less obvious things such as identification numbers, electronic location data and other online identifiers.

What we collect and how

We collect the information you type into our contact form: your name, your email address, your telephone number, the subject and whatever message you send us about your enquiry. If you attach a drawing or a CAD file, we receive that too.

We use those details to email or telephone you to discuss your enquiry. If you decide not to proceed, we remove your details from our systems.

This website sets no cookies of any kind. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel and no tracking. The full detail is in our cookie policy.

Our host keeps standard web server logs, which record IP addresses, pages requested and times. We use these for security and diagnostics only.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the following rights, which we will always work to uphold:

  • The right to be informed about our collection and use of your personal data. This notice should tell you everything you need to know, but you can always contact us to ask.
  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to have your personal data rectified if any of it is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • The right to be forgotten, meaning the right to ask us to delete or otherwise dispose of any personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to restrict, meaning prevent, the processing of your personal data.
  • The right to object to us using your personal data for a particular purpose or purposes.

Why we use your personal data

We only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly that is because you have asked us for something, because you have consented, or because it is in our legitimate business interests. Your personal data may be used to:

  • Supply our services to you. Your details are required for us to enter into a contract with you.
  • Communicate with you, including replying to your emails or calls.

We do not run an email marketing list and we do not send a newsletter. We do not sign you up to anything for getting in touch. If we ever start, it will be opt in, you will be asked first and you will be able to opt out at any time, in line with our obligations under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.

If you become a customer we will collect more personal data in order to provide the service you need, typically your name, address, telephone number, work email address and workplace details.

How long we keep it

We do not keep your personal data for any longer than is necessary in light of the reason it was collected. We will remove, update or change any personal data you tell us is incorrect.

Enquiries that do not lead to work are removed from our systems. Where you become a customer, we keep the data for as long as the commercial relationship and our statutory record keeping obligations require.

Sharing your personal data

We do not sell, distribute or lease your personal data to any third party unless we are obliged to by law.

We will respond within one month of receiving it. If a request is more complex, more time may be needed, up to a maximum of three months from the date we receive it, and you will be kept informed of our progress.
